Het is niet dat ik de aanhef uit het befaamde liedje van Scott McKenzie vergeten was, maar mijn huidige haartooi leent zich niet meer zo goed voor enige opsmuk met welke teelt dan ook. Deslniettemin heb ik genoten van Frisco. Het is een stad die leeft en waarin homo\u2019s, junks, artiesten en gewone lui vredig naast elkaar gedijen.<\/p>\n<p>Tussen Frisco en LA even gestopt in Cambria voor een bezoekje aan het nabij gelegen \u201c<em>Hearst Castle<\/em>\u201d. Dit kasteel bewijst waartoe Amerikanen met veel geld in staat zijn: het vermengen van verschillende neo-stijlen tot een afschuwelijk gedrocht. Eclectisch heet dat dan! Gelukkig waren er op een boogscheut van het kasteel ook nog de zeeolifanten te bewonderen. In San Simeon liggen er honderden van die vreemde wezens uit te rusten op het strand tot dat de grote trek zich inzet richting zee einde maart.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Van Los Angeles hebben we niet veel meer gezien dan Hollywood en Disneyland. Een artifici\u00eble wereld? Ja zeker! Maar we hebben tot \u2018s avonds laat genoten van de verschillende attracties in de themaparken van Disney en Universal Studios. Maar wat de trip nog het meest aantrekkelijk maakte, was dat we ze in gezelschap van goede vrienden uit Kampala hebben gemaakt. Voor herhaling vatbaar?
